Accidents and illness

If a student has an accident or feels unwell they must tell a member of staff straight away. If they are too ill to remain in school, their parents/carers will be contacted.

Medicines

Medicines will only be administered to children in school where it is not possible for the prescribed number of doses to be given outside school hours. Parents will normally be requested to attend school to administer the medicine to their child, however when this is not possible the school will administer the medicine as long as the medicine has been provided to the school in the original packaging with the attached administration/prescription label. Parents are required to complete a medicine form prior to administration of medicine. Students should not carry any medicines or painkillers on their person.

Medical appointments

It is always best to make medical appointments outside Academy hours. If this is not possible, parents must notify the office prior to the appointment date and provide either a letter or email confirming the appointment.
